Use them or lose Them: Mastering your ANTs in competitive sports
In the world of competitive sports, mental resilience is as vital as physical ability. Athletes often find themselves battling not just their opponents, but also their own minds.

Anxiety is one of the most common mental health challenges people face today, yet it remains largely misunderstood. It often feels overwhelming and inescapable, but at its core, anxiety is intricately tied to our thought processes.
In our fast-paced modern world, the workings of the mind can sometimes feel overwhelming. We often find ourselves reacting to situations in ways that seem disproportionate to the actual events occurring around us. To better understand this, let’s have a look an example of how our primitive mind operates, specifically in response to perceived threats.
In this month’s blog I dive into what’s going on between your ears and maybe just shed a little insight into the way that you may behave in certain situations.
Thankfully, in recent years, the conversation around mental health has become more open and inclusive, encouraging many to seek the support they need. However, with various options available, and social media marketing bombarding you with different practices, it can be a challenge to determine which type of support might be the best fit for your specific needs.
Box breathing stands out as a straightforward technique designed to ease tension, clear the mind, and enhance concentration. Its simplicity makes it a valuable tool in various scenarios, including stressful situations, bedtime routines, and everyday life.
While the advantages of a restful night’s sleep are vast and extensively documented—rejuvenating brain cells, repairing skin, enhancing productivity and mood, and fortifying major bodily systems—it is estimated that approximately 20 million people in the UK suffer from sleep-related issues, such as sleep deprivation and insomnia.
Is your life like a tornado of things you must do? Chances to grab? Focusing on what others want from you? While we handle our personal and work lives, we often feel very busy, too involved, and stressed. For people who like making others happy, setting limits can seem hard at first. But in the long run, it helps make life more peaceful.
As we navigate the final few days of work before a well-earned rest, I’d would like to sow a seed for the new year and your plans for 2024.
During the festive season, while it brings joy to many, it can also be a source of distress for some.
Jamie Chapman2024-12-04 I've been working with Jon for several months now and it has led to a significant improvement on the quality of my thoughts, my interactions and my activity levels. Jon is patient, encouraging and understanding. I see Jon's mind coaching as a long term strategy to be where I want in my business and personal life and look forward to working with him for years to come. Krasimira Popova2024-10-08 Asking for help from a therapist could be embarrassing. You feel like you are not like the rest of the people because there is something “wrong” with you, but Jonathan’s non-judgmental attitude and joyful nature puts you at ease. I had a mice and rats phobia which was seriously affecting my life. After each encounter with those little creatures my phobia grew to the point that I was crying out loud for half an hour, shaking uncontrollably , heart racing like crazy, straggling for air and nearly losing consciousness. I felt that if I don’t do something I will die from a heart attack or suffocation in my next encounter with the furry creatures. Someone suggested that I get a rat for a pet and that way I would start even like them. Even the thought of being in close proximity to them made me feel shaky. So I started looking for some kind of therapy to make me cope with that situation and I found Jonathan. To be honest I was skeptical at first, but by our second or third session I wasn’t feeling scared anymore when seeing a mice or rats on TV. And even after we finish the therapy I felt like everything will go back to the way it was in the moment I have an encounter with them. One month after the therapy a saw a big rat jumping around the yard.To my surprise I didn’t run away with uncontrollable crying and shaking.I just sat were I was and felt disgusted by it, but also curious - is it a male or female, is it browsing around for a food to feed the little ones or looking for a new home for the winter. Then I cried, but this time feeling relieved, feeling gratitude towards that wonderful therapist who helped me overcome that phobia and saved my life( if not literally at list the quality of it). My only regret is that I waited too long to look for a help.If I knew it would be that easy to get rid of my phobia I would have done it sooner. Thank you Jonathan! May God grant you a long and happy life, so you can help many more people like me. Georgina Baker2024-09-02 To put this bluntly Jon is an absolute legend! I want to say thank you first before giving my review as it is entirely necessary to thank you for everything. The positivity that you have helped me, help myself to put into my life is more than I could have asked for. The learning and invaluable time and effort we have both put in over the last few months has been essential to help me to control my own thinking. This is entirely down to your kindness, patience, depth of knowledge and down to earth attitude. If you didn’t question me every session and push me to rethink my negative approach it wouldn't have happened! If you are thinking of calling or messaging this man for help please do it.. reaching for the phone is the hardest part, as he told me right at the beginning of my journey! I am now taking everything I have learned, methods taught and learned from Jon into practise in my daily life and I am a much happier person for it. I genuinely can say I will be recommending to anyone I may come across who may need his help in the future. Thank you so much again! James H2024-07-19 Working with Jon has not only been transformative for my mental health, it equipped me with the tools I needed to see things from a fresh perspective and reprioritise in life. If like me you have no experience with hypnotherapy, don’t let the “hypno” put you off. Jon is a lovely, normal down-to-earth bloke, who cultivates a calm and safe space. I had some initial apprehension and skepticism, but it was nothing but a positive experience. No weirdness and no woo. Thoroughly recommend. emily jones2024-06-13 I really enjoyed my sessions with Jon, as they really helped me understand my anxiety more and therefore I was able to control it. Chloe Head2024-03-15 I have been vaping for the last 2 years and over that period I have periodically tried everything that I could possibly think of to try and stop but nothing worked and invariably I would start up again. A friend had recommended Jonathan to me, so out of sheer desperation I thought I would give it a shot. Frankly it was the best thing I could have done, my appointment was three weeks ago today and thankfully I have not touched a vape since, which is all down to the session I had with Jonathan. He is a calming, caring, personable chap, who is clearly very good at his job and I would highly recommend that anyone goes to see him if they are struggling with addiction or mental health issues as he has helped me enormously and I am throughly grateful to him for that. Lynsey Cook2024-02-23 Jon helped me so much with managing stress levels. He is extremely professional and put me at ease. After our sessions I felt like a weight was lifted 😊 I highly recommend Jon!
